I'm interested in this item as I have an 08 that I want to keep essentially stock. Bluetooth would be a nice addition if I could retain my stock radio.
The simplest way to get bluetooth music off your phone on a stock radio (I have the factory Nav), is to get an FM transmitter that you put into the cigarette/ charging port. For me it works just fine, but it may or may not cause some minor electrical issues while its plugged in (ie. mine will sometimes trigger a TMPS sensor error, but the error goes off when the transmitter is unplugged).
I agree, a new head unit can give you not only bluetooth, but front and rear camera's and better cd clarity. Look at Crutchfield on the net, they have many models that fit and their tech help is amazing
You can purchase a cable connection from KAWAL.net that utilizes the XM receiver. I then added Bluetooth and select XM to play. Only controlled with phone but that is all I needed.
I feel like I have seen a BT module that connects to the main board in the radio for this recently in the classifieds. It was expensive enough that I wondered who in their right mind would want to do this upgrade rather than replacing the radio.
The cigarette adapter is the cheapest less frills option
For those that want to go the cheap route, grab an Echo Auto by Amazon, plug it in, and enjoy. It will sound WAY better than one of those FM transmitter thingys. And since the Echo Auto wasn't well received by consumers, you can get find them for dirt cheap.
