Default HUD issues

Hey all,

I have read countless posts on this infamous HUD issue, but unless I missed something, can't seem to find what the fix was for my particular issue.
1. HUD IS working. All button functions are working. Up/Down as well as brightness controls.
2. Motor seems to be working. I can hear it, as well as see the mirror pivoting up and down inside.
(based on this I can't see how a pin could be broken considering it does still move up/down without issue, other than that it won't go to where I want it).

Issue is that it is projecting way too low to where I can't even see it. When I adjust it fully down to the stop, then bring it back up, it does come into view but not high enough. When it gets close to high enough where it used to be, it snaps back to the full down position.

*side note* This past weekend I installed long tube headers and mid-pipe. In order to do so I disconnected the battery. Ever since battery disconnect I've had the issue. Was working perfectly fine 3 days ago before battery disconnect.

Things I've tried.
1. Disconnect battery for a while and try it again.
2. Keep messing with controls full up/down to see if it would re-adjust somehow.

PLEASE HELP
Thanks!

You have the classic broken pin. One side also has a spring that can kind of hold the mirror in a position you can barely see the display.

The "fix" is not an easy one, you have basically 2 choices, disassemble the dash to get to the HUD parts in question or remove enough of the parts around the instrument cluster & cut the a/c duct which blocks the access to the HUD unit to gain access to the broken parts
