We purchased a 2010 3LT Convertible and looking for info on what's better for in garage storage for winter battery, is trickle charger or battery tender works better. Then I want to change the stereo to a better product than the Bose and I want to include a rear camera with it, any suggestions, thanks
I keep our 2001 Coupe on a C-Tek trickle charger, and it often sits for several months at a time. Since switching to a gel battery on my 2011 Grand Sport, I only connect the C-Tek if it's going to be sitting longer than a few weeks. Even after a few weeks, it always fires right up. With a standard wet cell, it would start to get weak after a few weeks of sitting, so I left it connected every time I parked once the weekend was done.
Hi there,
I have a battery tender and it works fine. I also switched to the newer AGM made by Malory in the USA, and resold by Farm and Fleet. Seven year warranty, and it was just over $200. I love it and it always holds a charge for at least 3 to 4 weeks even in cold weather. I think these cars need at least 8+ volts to fire up, but low voltage usually leads to sensor failures or damage to your ECM. You have a nice car...how about some pics?
You want a maintainer not a regular charger.
A maintainer watches the voltsge and shuts off when full and turns back on when it drops. Otherwise constantly charging the battery will boil the acid and kill the battery

I find just disconnecting the battery for the winter sleep works best for me. I tried a Battery Tender one winter & it quit about half through the winter
causing my battery to freeze & that ruined the battery. So back to Plan A - disconnect battery. I still use a Battery Tender in the summer months if I don't drive car for a while.
