Replacement Exhaust Warning
Found something a few days ago, wanted to warn people if it applies. I picked up a 2005 Convertible, automatic in early April. The main thing here is the PO had replaced the back half of the exhaust from the H pipe through the rear bumper, I think it's a Corsa Sport but that's really not crucial here. Long story short, found out that there is a plastic sleeve wrapped wire that attaches to the driver's side of the transmission and is very close to the exhaust. In my case, the wire wrap was pressing against the exhaust pipe and had partially melted. Had the exhaust shop loosen the clamp on the H pipe and muffler and cocked the pipe away from the wire and transmission by about 1". I put some heat wrap on the exhaust pipe and a DEI wrap on sleeve on the wiring to protect it.
I was lucky, it didn't get any worse than it did, and I think the solution will be permanent.
