Default P0601 …. Fixed?

Hello everyone, I made a thread a little while ago and have done lots of research on this common electrical gremlins in the C6, 2005 especially… my 05 2 drives ago which was about 2 months ago now went into limp mode while driving around 80km/h engine light came on, reduced engine power, and power steering lost.
I ended up disconnecting my battery and re connecting and drove home with no issues. Then after research I tried to clean ECU connectors and check some grounds in engine bay all seemed good, a week later I went to take it out and it stalled out about 10 mins of idling , well at that point I put it into the garage and left it until last night I was thinking about it and doing some more research and very briefly I caught someone say check for loose battery terminals … so I did and they were very loose both + & - like I could turn them left and right and take them off with my pinky … i tightened them up temporarily because I think I need new terminals and I took my car to get gas and I had it running constantly for about 35 mins with no issues ..

I did end up buying a used ECU to have my shop put in and re program but I really want to get to the bottom of this … could anyone please share their thoughts and suggestions on what I could do ?

would loose battery terminals cause the issues I had or is there more going on than that and should I continue to have my ECU replaced ?

thank you I look forward to your guys suggestions

A P0601 is an internal failure of the engine computer…so are you still having issues after its replacement ??…loose battery terminals would not cause an internal failure…whoever is changing it should be checking its powers and grounds before replacement.

So replacement is required you think?

I have not yet got it replaced , I am going to soon but I really wanted to try and see if it was a simple fix before paying alot for the ecu , reprogram then re tune …

so battery would not have anything to do with … interesting

my only concern is the ECU I bought it another 05 used one I’m worried I’m going to have the same issue but I guess won’t know until they put it in….

Great video of an ‘06 Corvette that stalls out as yours did… stalling out can be MANY things and as you can see a good diagnostic shop such as this one can find out the root cause.

Unlikely you need new battery terminals, but you might need to rebuild yours with this
Amazon Amazon

To check yours, remove the conical nuts and see if you’ve over tightened them to the point that you made an indentation in the slot of the oval ramp they screw into. If not, just lube the mechanism a bit, and with the nut backed off, use a socket that will clear the battery post enough to allow you to gently tamp the clamp down as far as it will go. Then, making sure the conical end of the nut is down, tighten enough so that the clamp is secure. Just make sure you do the -ve cable last when reconnecting so you don’t do any arc welding. If the ramp was damaged or forced apart by over tightening, replace the parts with the Dorman kit, and tighten as I described.
