Key fob issues
Hey guys, my 06 base only came with one fob. It stopped working so I had a key company come out and program me a new one. It’s a newer fob so it doesn’t fit in the slot in the glove compartment anymore. Well $650 later it worked for about a month and a half. Now it’s not working at all anymore. Could this be a separate issue other than the fob since this one is brand new? Confused and extremely frustrated. Need some help.

Did you try putting a new and good battery in it? Just because the fob was new doesn't mean the battery was new at that point. As far as the fob fitting in the slot, you might have to hold it in to keep it in place, but others have programmed the newer fobs in the 05-07 cars, so we know they will work in the slot.

For that matter, what did you do to trouble shoot the original fob that had stopped working? First step would have been to try it in the glove box slot, key ring out, buttons facing the passenger side. If you could start the car with it in the slot, then the fob is probably OK electrically, but could be dead battery, or battery contacts not making good contact. And what did the 'key company' do? Did they first erase all known fobs, and them program the new one, or did they just add in the new fob?
