I am wondering if there are any after market shift cables and grommets that are better and stronger the the OEM's or I should just order the Oem's? 2009 with automatic trans.
No such thing as replaceable Oem grommets, and would have to get the entire new cable to get GM grommets on it, but dorman has you covered on just the replacement grommets for the old oem cable.
No on a better system, like one that would have U slotted clips locks, since the trans and shifter shaft is not long enough to use that type of lock, with the end of shafts just shaped to lock into grommet alone. Also, it not so much that grommet just falls off, but wears out to fall off instead,
As for when replacing the end of shift cable grommets, make sure to unlock the trans side cable adjuster, so you re-adjust the cable length for the correct length, with trans in drive, and shifter in drive.
You do understand that your being charged $30, for two $3 grommets only (that you can buy at any automotive parts store under the doorman name instead).
" Grommets only, does not include new cable"
If your going to spend $30, then may as well spend the $45 to get an entire new GM oem shift cable, that will come with new grommets as well.
