Help - Plastic push insert panel holder
Above the pedals under the dash there is a black plastic cover is held in with 3 push inserts. They Look like this:
Does anyone know the part number, or the equivalent Doorman number?
At some point while changing my brake pads, I think my shoe caught on the cover and pulled the back one out. The cover then was wedged holding the brake pedal from coming back up. Is this a common thing? I have never had a brake pedal not return and it freaked me out as I couldn't see the panel was wedged in there from the sitting position. I don't want this panel to be loose in the future. I would imagine many people just leave it off. I have never seen a car that had a cover that far back.

The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
Part 37 in this diagram is GM 10410052. Search on eBay Clips and Fasteners in California usually has something spot on in a 10 pack, etc. All this in case you want to do a bit better than Harbor Freight for your C6.
This is the set I found at parts stores. It has the one I need in it. $50 at the parts stores seems crazy

is there any way to figure out if the one in this set is truly the one I need? It’s $15 for the GM part after shipping. $30 for the set seems like the better option.

But I like HF for a number of reasons.
1. They offer discounts of 10-20% for their members (amazon has a member fee also)
2. They test their tools, unlike amazon (which I have sent back because of Chinese crap)
3. Returns are zero hassle, though my return experience has been my fault of wrong size and such.
4. They are open until 5pm on Sundays
5. Helpful people/employees. (I can never find anyone in a Lowes/Home depot not on the phone or could care)
All that said, I am not a professional mechanic. But I have rebuilt truck and aircraft engines. I did give up trying to rebuild a tranny. 🙄 I consider a professional someone who works 40+ hours a week or retired from same.
I have a few professional friends who do not prefer HF. The common theme seems to be “not lasting a repeated 40 hours work week”. Though these same friends love the HF tool cabinets. ?!
All totaled, I like HF. An American company, employs 28,000 people, 1,500 locations, survived since 1977. That is 45+ years. Someone must like their stuff.
I make about 300 orders per year from Amazon, even my toilet paper.....an American company with 1.5 million employees. And a company whose stock is in several of my retirement portfolio funds. If you would have bought $10k in Amazon stock at its 1997 IPO, you would have $30 million now....oh well!
