I know this has been discussed 100 times and I tried searching the forum but the number of posts overwhelmed me. Has anyone found an aftermarket key fob that actually will allow the hatch to open with either the fob or the button above the license plate? I ordered one on ebay and the FCC id matches mine. It programmed fine but the rear hatch will not function unless I use the OEM fob I got with the car or the button next to the gas door release.
The one (later style) that I bought from eBay works with the hatch button above the license plate but the button on the fob does not open it. Both doors work fine and it starts the car. I would send you a link but eBay says the vendor is no longer there. It looks just like the 2008+ fob minus the emblem on the back (does not even have the indent for a label, just a smooth back). Same FCC ID as stock.

Your BIG mistake was ordering one from Ebay !!...I'd seek out a locksmith or store in your area that deals with them...a $20.00 FOB most likely will be junk !!
I just ordered an OEM fob the other day and wanted to avoid a cheap replacement due to how critical these fobs are to the cars.
Any time you have a push button start, it’s a smart choice to opt for an OEM fob. A hatch not opening is the least of your worries
FOBs 3 and 4 are just as functional as 1 and 2 except for memory functions within the car (which are linked to 1 and 2 only). They should open all the doors and hatch. Looking at the circuit boards and cases from the $20 fobs I am going to guess they were built in the same factory as the OEM ones. But there is something, obviously, different when it comes to the hatch button. Very odd. DId any C6 have remote start? My 2007 does not.

To my knowledge no C6 had remote start but it would have been a nice option on those 100 degrees days.

I bought two of these on Amazon to use as fobs 3 and 4 on my 2009. The hatch function work as expected with both of them and the buttons in the car.

Looks like you're not alone on that. I was trying to find one for you on Amazon and ran across this on an aftermarket key fob.
I just got an OEM one for like $110 last week. There are deals out there. Just gotta hunt for them.
I called my 3 closest dealers and if I order it under our company it's $153 at one, $185 ay another and $202 at the third. Online at GM Part Direct it's like $129 plus $13 shipping. Only plus I see to buying at the dealer is they said if I bring the original emergency key and the blank they will cut it free.
G.M. provides 2 and they operate the functions of the car, 1- 2
3 - 4 Will not operate some functions.
Fob replacements
For GM fobs you must program them fobs 1-2
That says nothing about aftermarket fobs
Still have to be 1- 2 to operate all car functions
Even OEM fobs that are programmed as 3 or 4 will operate all functions. They'll all unlock what they're supposed to unlock, start the car, lock the car, etc. What driver profiles 3 and 4 won't allow you to do is access the driver options, so you can't even view them. Certainly can't change them. I've got an OEM fob programmed as #3, and an aftermarket Caddy clone programmed as #4. Both 3 and 4 unlock everything, and 4 certainly allows the hatch button at the rear to unlock the hatch.
This the clone that I bought and programmed in Aug 2021, and as I said, it works fine in all respects.
