So another C6 air damn has bit the dust thanks to my driveway. The only thing keeping me from ripping the rest of it off is that I understand that the center piece needs to be there for air flow at highway speeds.
I'm just curious what others do in this case? Isn't there a ZR1 piece that's higher than 3/4" off of the ground?
You're talking about the black rubber strips in 3 pieces under the car? They are made/designed to be able to contact the ground. Or are you talking about a front lip spoiler?
they paid for it?
****, that would be awesome, but my township told me to kick rocks and it would be on my dime
Yes, they paid for it. Lowered it at least 2". and then the sidewalk on either side, they replaced to "ramp down" to match. It turned out great and my 2012 GS doesn't drag.
What I'm talking about is the side pieces that connect to the center air damn. That IS flexible. The side pieces are really just cosmetics as opposed to the center pieces which does flex and fine to do so.
I'm just going to remove the remnants of the side pieces and not worry about it.

damn! That was nice of them.
someone in my neighborhood did this on their dime and it looks great. Perfect for sports car owners

Wow ... that is very nice of them. Unfortunately in my case there is a slight ramp down on my driveway, but then as soon as my rear wheels hit the street, it's a$$ is going up which of course grinds the h3ll out of those side pieces.

Yep, that's all you need to do and you won't have any problems. I did the same on my previous 'vette, worked great.
For the life of me, I can't understand why so many Corvette owners lower their street-driven Corvette. That is so impractical, making the car very susceptible to under-carriage damage. It is risky enough at the factory height.

After driving mine for awhile, I really don’t find the height of a Corvette all that life changing. I do get anxiety sometimes entering certain parking lots because the nose sticks out sooo far, but it’s really not bad just driving it.

Right ... I agree. It's plenty low enough out of the factory.

The driveway in the ONLY place that I've ever had any issues with. I agree with you in that it's not very challenging to drive. When I encounter a speed bump - I angle it. No big deal.

Cause it looks damn good... I'd rather risk it. It's not really all that impractical either. I drive the wheels off mine and rarely ever have an issue. I put hard miles on it too through all kinds of different elevations and road conditions... I mean... yes, its gonna scrape now and then but... I'll take that risk for the look.
