I bought my wife a new head unit with front and back camera for Christmas. Has anyone had any issues with installing a new head unit?? I've herd occasionally that people have had issues with installing new units...
No! If you ordered it from Crutchfield, they will give you everything you need. Just follow their instructions and watch a few youtube videos on how to take apart the console. Crutchfields is always there for support! You got this! Good luck & take your time!
No, it’s just a head unit.
if you’ve ever done one before, it’s mostly the same deal other than needing the jingle module and the steering wheel control module.
Crutchfield makes it easy with their prewired harnesses, but they won’t include brake bypass for screen functionality.

We could use a little more info, such as the brand and model of the head unit, before we can accurately answer your questions about everything you’ll need to hook it up. I’ll tell you right now you’re at least going to need an interface such as the PAC RP5-GM11 which is the most commonly used one on this forum. Also some other resources you can look at is the “Audio/Electronics” section of this forum https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...lectronics-20/ and here’s something to look at from the “How To” section of this forum, that gives you and idea of what all’s involved to do this .https://www.corvetteforum.com/how-to...igation-368176
What is a brake bypass and how does that relate to a radio head?
If you have a double din unit, you will realize quickly a good bit of functions are locked down until the car comes to a stop.
Navigation is on if the bigger ones. So the brake bypass allows those functions to always be available
it’s a safety feature, so smarter.
people go to the next level and watch Netflix while they are driving, hence the safety issue
Which is illegal by the way, I by-passed mine so the passenger can enter data on the nav system while in motion, not to watch video, though I could, but doing so would be stupid. If I’m by myself and need to enter data, I pull over.
I researched the Alpine unit. While it is a good unit, a lot of complaints about Android Auto crashing. AA is key to me so I will have to pass on the Alpine. Looking at the Pioneer DMH-W3050NEX

Which Alpine? They have hundreds of units like every other brand does.
was it AA specifically? Or did this include CarPlay?
