Default Brake-down

Hello fellow VETTERZ. I know this question has been tossed around alot, but here it goes again! BRAKES!!!
I have a 2011 Grand Sport Convertible and changing pads AND rotors. The rotors are original and the pads are dusty as hell ( probably metallic) . Recommendations please? Ceramics less dusty? Rotors slotted? Drilled? BOTH? Where do you get your stuff?

Thanks Always!

Mileage will help, since oem pads will wear down in about 25K of normal type aggressive driving, but enough meat still on the rotors, that they can be turned to get another set of pads out of the rotors. (yes, drilled rotors can be turned, but cost about $5 more each, since they have to do a few light passes, verse the one deep pass that you can do on not drilled rotors instead..

As for pads on the GS, say no to the autozone duralast pads, since don't have a high enough working temp, and just going to melt them to the rotors.
The 1521 pads may help with your dusting problem, over the oem semi metalic HD pads, but they don't have the higher working temps as the oem HD pads. Hence the oem HS pads give great initial breaking even if the brakes are dead cold, great pedal feed back through the working temp range of the pads, as well as the higher working temp of the pads as well.
With replacements, its kind of pick two of the above if not going to autocross the car, if your trying to get less dusting of the pads instead.

This is probably debated as what is the best tire or best battery. Everyone is going to tell you to use whatever they went with since they think it was the best.

Read through a bunch of the threads and then try to come to an informed decision. For every vote for Power Stop or Hawk or fill in the blank, they'll be a vote for Autozone pads.

Here is an interesting read....best of luck to you

Most people go to the powerstop z26 kit, comes with padlets and rotors for a pretty reasonable price and low dust (though I never had the low dust luck with mine). I've since went to a DBA single pad setup which is a lot less forgiving but whey work really well. (very loud though when their cold)

I went with the acdelco black hat rotors from rockauto and the Duralast gold ceramic pads.

That setup works for my driving style which is mostly cruising.
