Default C6 z06

Hello folks.
Currently a Porsche 1970 914-6 and 1972 911S owner, and am looking to add to my toy garage. I've been intrigued with both the C6 and C7 iterations of Corvette and have been lurking, perusing various threads on C6 Z06 models specifically. Is there a thread or site that specifically details production run revisions from 2006 through 2013? Thank you in advance for your replies.

For the most part, z06 is a Z06, you had the T56 in the early cars, then the laster ones got the T56 magunam trans, better known as the Tr6060 in 2008, that shifts a little smoother.
If your talking interior, then 3lt in the 2013 car is nicer, but before that, pretty much the same in the 1lt verse 1lt, 2lt verse 2lt, and 3lt verses the 3lt of early to later production cars. If looking for more of a track car, then 2lt, while if more of a driver car with more creature comforts, then 3lt.

As for your 914, and the early 911s, the Z06 will be a beast, with more power than handling ability.
Hence the two P's, easy to thrown them around the track since not that kind of power to get into trouble, even on the way out of the apex,
while the Z06, whole different driving style that going to take a lot more attention instead. Bluntly, with 914, you scream about as fast as you can before the corner, light touch of th brake to scrub off just a touch of speed, carry as much speed you can around the corner, and lets face it, on the way out of the apex, pretty much just peg the gas pedal. With Z06, the amount of speed that your going to gain from corner to corner, going to be blistering, much harder on the brakes all the way to the apex corner to keep the front end weight transferred so front end is sticking, then on the way out of the apex and due to the power and now weight back on the rear end, your using the rear end via the gas pedal, to keep the front end pushing inward by the rear tires, to make quick work out of the corner. Hence 914, you may end on the outside line from steering the car there with the front tires, while on the Z06, your on the out side edge of the apex at the end, since the car drifted there, with a lot of reverse steer to keep the back end hooked and not coming around on you.

As for not going to track the car, would be looking for a 993, verse a z06, just due to resale value in the end. I bring this up, since when I bought my C6 for track use, had a chance to buy a 308gt for around the same price, and now the 308's are valued at over $100K now, while my C6 worth half the price is cost new.

The last one if you do have your heart set on a Z06, make sure to have the car pre purched inspected/try to get one with the least amount of mods, since a great deal of the z06's where rode hard/left out wet abused, and if you don't catch the problems with the car before you buy it to knock the price down that its going to cost to repair, going to be spendy as hell to repair such items after the fact.

I sold my 2012 997 (911) GTS last year - it was a PDK (auto) version. For less than half the money I bought a 2007 velocity yellow Z06. I’m much happier with this car. The driver engagement is just over the top compared to the Porsche - but I can make some mods to it and no one cares! Porsche people expect their 911’s to be stock. the Porsche was so refined, and the PDK is an amazing feat of engineering that can change gears so much faster than I ever could. But weight for weight and dollar for dollar the c6 Z06 is just a bargain! My Z06 has aftermarket heads and has been tuned to make 500 whp - so there is that - that’s compared to 408 HP at the engine for the 997 GTS. I did consider a ZR1 - but I wanted a car that is more acceptable to mod a little and one that I don’t have to treat as though I’m just a custodian for the next guy that will own it…

I would hop over to the c6 Z06 section on here and do some poking around. Make sure you research the head/valve drop issue. It can be an extremely costly repair if you have a valve drop and theirs zero gaurentee's you won't unless you fix the heads. Cool Porsche collection it sounds like, got any pics? I'm a sucker for a P car.

Very few changes in the C6 ZO6 run, the 2012-13 cars got improved seats, the 2008 & newer got the TR6060 trans, in 2009 the dry sump oil capacity went to 10.5 quarts. 2008 saw a thicker wall exhaust valve change

If you want to know exactly how many were built and what the options were for every Corvette made you want the Corvette Black Book. The 2014 version would be the best since it would have all the stats through 2013 without all that C7 & C8 crap nobody cares about. LOL You might be able to find a used one cheap.

The 911 is very close to a scapulae on the track, since it has a refined balance of power to handling.

The C6 Z06, as stated, it has more power than handling ability in stock form,so think of it a a meat cleaver on the track instead.
If stepping up to the ZR1, then even more torque, and need to turn on PTM so you not just blistering the rear tires out of every apex instead. Hence even with pro drivers behind the wheel, they turn in the fastest lap times with PTM in 4 to hobble the motor a touch.
