Default Body control module

Just a bit of info to pass along. Ac delco currently remanufactures body control modules for our cars. I was able to get a part number off rock auto and order from an online gm dealer. Information seems to be scarce on cross referencing part numbers though as the part number does change. Since my 07 shares a bcm with the XLR, I was able to determine the part number for me was correct on a Cadillac forum. I know I see these used on ebay for insane money and they can be tricky to get into another vehicle. According to gm these are wiped clean and ready to go into another vehicle. Different part numbers for different years. I've seen guys have their cars turned into paperweights because of a faulty bcm. The bcm is available for just over 200 bucks and that includes a refundable 100 dollar core charge. I plan on having mine installed, programmed and then removed in the coming weeks. I'll report back. Salvage yards are charging WILD money.......especially 05 06 and 07 cars

Finding parts for the C6 generation is going to get tougher & tougher as time passes....hopefully an aftermarket company will step up & make some of these parts available if demand calls for it

Good info. I made a note of the p/n for my 07.

When I made a comment about some (discontinued) parts I was stockpiling in case needed in the future (like a RCDLR module for 30 bucks on eBay) I was met with response like "you might as buy a second car for parts"

Interesting. I also found a ford fan module that fits our cars for 52 bucks shipped from Walmart. If you go to Dormans website it says it fits XLR and C6 vettes. Another cheap option

Yes, no, maybe, on having the bcm flashed to the car now, then pulling it for back up later.

Hence when BCM is vin flashed, is going to pull the mileage from the other modules so it correct, but when you pull it from the car to use as back up, reinstall it later with car being driving, mileage is going to be wrong it in, and will require it to be re flashed again.

Now if you have your own tech2 (or clone) and copy of tis2000, could flash it yourself now to make sure it going to flash fine, then if you do need it later, then can install it later and re-flash it back in so it listing the correct mileage then.

Also, once the BCM if flashed in, go back with Tech2wn, to double check the RPO selection in BCM set up with that program (what some dealers forget to do once bcm has been vin SPS flashed). Hence if say car did not come with Hud as factory installed, and it was added in later, vin flash is not to going to select Hud in rpo list, and will need to select it when you are doubling checking the rpo selected list items in the end under tech2win BCM set up.

solid info that I definitely didn't know. Maybe I'll wait until and if the moment comes that I need it. I dont have the equipment to do it myself.

Emphasizing what others stated, DO NOT install the BCM yourself. The programming process is CRITICAL for all the features in your vehicle to work properly.

Example.....

Back in late 2019, we bought a 2007 Saturn Sky that turned out to suffer from an improperly installed BCM. Not only was the mileage off by 110k miles, but the following did not work because a previous owner just plugged the new BCM in to get the car running.
NO brakelights
NO keyfob action for the doors, hence NO alarm (only the trunk release worked)
NO cruise control

There is NO WAY to REprogram a new/refurbished BCM that was plugged-in and powered up. You MUST then buy anbother refurbished one and have a certified mechanic with the right equipment to electronically install the BCM.

Back to our case, based on the Carfax which had service history, I estimated the odometer was off by less than 110,000 miles, so I instructed the mechanic to add that plus a little extra to what the odometer stated which was under 9,000. So I had him set the odometer to an exact 120,000 miles. This picture was taken 1171 miles later.

The properly installed BCM woke up the cruise control, resolved all key fob issues which also resolved the alarm, and the brake lights also worked. So IF you suspect an odometer rollback and the brake lights don't work, your suspicions could be factual.

Yes, no, maybe, and it comes down to either having the correct needed programming tools with programs/knowing how to use them correctly,
or have someone like myself local to you, that does/can teach you how to flash correctly in the first place if you want to do it later once you get your own programmer and programs.
