Default OnStar removal ?

Good morning, 'Vette folks !
Some of you may have stumbled across my post regarding a windshield for a C6 coupe. Had issues - to say the least ! - in the U.K. finding one . No surprise there , then . Got a call from our arm of Safelite, Autoglass, last week , to say they had my windshield, and booked me in for yesterday . Great . I had doubts, as this all seemed a bit quick , and asked them on the 'phone what variant of windshield it was . 'HUD,GPS, top tint' was the reply. All good so far ,but I intended to check before fitment , as that's the time to spot an incorrect part , before it's too late. Needless to say , the blacked-out mount area for the OnStar was absent . Not really necessary , as this equipment never worked over here, anyway , but for the sake of keeping things neat , and maybe originality, it would be easier to just re-fit it . I'm having doubts that an OnStar one will turn up , and would like to know , if this equipment can be removed completely, or at least to the point of keeping the windshield header area tidy . Any info on how this is done , if it's possible ? When I say completely, I don't necessarily mean all the electronix secreted away in other areas of the car, such as the main module just the visible cabin-mounted stuff . That way , I know a HUD windshield is available , at least .
Many thanks for any and all assistance, folks !

On star wind sheild and you can tell by the wider black upper band on the passenger side, where the on star module get mounted to back side of windshiield and wider part of band hides it..

Here is the none Onstar windsheild, with upper band both sides the same size. not as far down, since no onstar module it has to hide on the passenger side.

As for hud windsheild or not, just look the label on it, to make sure Hud shows up if you have Hud in the car.

An the best one, was there's a relationship where Safelite manufactures and distributes windshields under the AP Technoglass brand, based on a licensing agreement with AGC Automotive Americas. AGC continues to produce AP Technoglass as well. Additionally, Safelite has acquired other auto glass companies, like AutoGlass of America and Premium Auto Glass.

And you could get the same GM windshields a lot cheaper, with just the GM part of the label buffed out.

'Morning, Dano !
Thanx for the reply . I understand all that about the 'obscuration strip ' , to give it it's correct term, being extended to hide the OnStar box from outside. The glass that Autoglass U.K. got me was missing this area to the right of the mirror, but was otherwise correct . So , it seemed that quickest fix was to get without the useless OnStar thing . I'm sure the thing could be re-mounted , given that any bracket or such could be removed from the existing glass without damage , using the same adhesive as for the mirror mount , but , as you are obviously aware, this would look a bit crappy from outside.I suppose all this bother is my reward for daring to be 'different' and wanting a 'real' car , not some anemic , pop-farting little Eurobox with all the charm of long-dead jellyfish. Will I ever learn ? Hopefully not !

The OnStar antenna on the windshield can just be removed. I think it just clips into a bracket that is glued on to the windshield. And then it plugs into a harness under the window frame trim (I think, it's been a while since I removed mine). The metal bracket glued to the windshield can them be removed by prying it up.

110% correct. It is not needed as it don’t work anymore old tech. I removed mine two years ago.
