I have a 2005 C6 auto with 38K, casual driver, no track work. Just told I need differential repair/replace. Any suggestions on a knowledgeable shop that can do this? I am in Newburyport MA. Thank You.
Hard to believe a new differential is needed at 38k miles regardless of age unless the car has seen a lot of hard miles? I would get a 2nd opinion for sure......
Thank you for the responses. I originally thought it was a transmission problem, but then had it looked at by reputable repair shop. They said it was differential, but could not do the repair. I am looking for shop near me (Newburyport, MA) for a "second opinion" and hopefully to do the necessary fix. Thanks again. DCD
Did it feel like it was slipping or not engaging?
'05 is known to have torque converter issues, and it's a 1 year only converter. They changed to a 36 spline converter in '06.
I would get a second opinion from a qualified shop asap. If it is the converter you'll want to source one asap. They are getting harder to find, and I wouldn't recommend used.
