Default Wind screen effectiveness

The rear wind restrictor came with my 2010 Grand Sport convertible when I bought it. I have not driven a car without one.
The problem is that it is squeaky. I was thinking of removing it but I thought I would check with you guys on its effectiveness before I do that.
Thanks in advance.

Wind Screen Is usually the description of the front windshield, The thing that is put behind you (conv.) is usually called a Wind Restrictor. Assume you mean the one behind you? If that is the one (?) I would first check ALL fasteners to make sure all is tight. Screen to brackets - brackets to vehicle. I have never used one or in fact seen one, and would guess that each manufacture has a specific way in which they are attached. If the manufacture name it still on the unit, call and get the instructions. I again do not know if rubber grommets were used and are now worn, Finding the actual problem that is causing the noise, would help you to fix it. A restrictor is designed to stop the air going over the windshield and occupants heads from then going forward into passenger compartment, which is cause by the negative air pressure in that area. we do not have one on our 08 Rag (my hair short - Rebecca's mid back long - but pony tails it. That stops her hair from going in front of her face. She like the wind effect. So I assume that they are very effective.

I have a aftermarket one, and wont drive without it.
Its simply bold in 2 holes i needed to drill in the side plastic panels.
Not noticed squeeking yet.

Think u have to look at all the bolts/parts that hold it, and perhaps some refastening.
But in my experience , there is more "squeeking" plastic in the vette.
She will never be quit im afraid (or it must be the Z51 option with Poly Control Arm Bushing Kit i have)

I bought mine used and it came with an aftermarket one, it works great, doesn't make any noise, and as an added bonus it has Corvette on it that lights up when I hit the brakes

I have my driver's seat all the way back and it was squeaking when the pleather was rubbing against the wind deflector. I got some sticky backed felt from the hobby store and put it on the deflector where the seat was rubbing. Nobody sees it except me - Squeak gone!
