I like to keep my phone in the center console area. But it gets really hot there and burns up my phone when the lid is closed. So I removed the center console lid and it's much better.
Is there a way to remove the hinge too? I can't see any screws. Is it glued in?
Ideally I would just keep the hinge there but it can be painful if a passenger's elbow hits it.

The '11 & up have a usb & aux port built in that connected to the factory nav head unit. I have a carbon fiber console now, that's my old one (sitting in a box now)
Get this off ebay...Fits on passenger side of console between floor and console...easy install and will hold phone and it won't get hot plus you get a cup holder to boot...its quiet and does not look out of place and will last forever...Its 45 bucks now...was cheaper in 2019 lol...I love it in mine...the travel buddy plastic thing offered by some vendors is hideous in the car and passenger won't like it either.......I have one of those too so I know of what I speak...lol This one shown in picture is a not tool install takes ten seconds if you're slow...

PS there are insulation options for console as well but to do it right console needs to come out probably...
Not sure, I'm not a huge fan of those things. I did come across them on Amazon.
Insulation though...I didn't think about that. Looks like Exotic Vette has kits. Insulating the whole car is overkill for this purpose, but I'm getting some audio upgrades soon and a more acoustically sound interior would be nice, and reduced heat would be a nice bonus!
The insulation really does not help much at all. I have both the entire interior insulated and the tunnel underneath. Still can't put anything in the center console. Best solution is to get a ProClip phone mount.
