I found this piece of plastic down below the battery tray area near the passenger side exhaust manifold but wasnt touching it. Any idea what it is or where it goes? I just left it out for now… Thanks
Hi there,
On the passenger side at the rear of the exhaust manifold, is a metal clip that has wires inside. This is the cover for that. Hopefully some one will post a pic.
Heat shield for the wiring harness mounted on the frame rail just below & between the battery and the engine exhaust. Looks like you are missing the clip #16 in the diagram which is why the shield was loose and came off.
Hope this helps...GD You an see a large portion of the shield just above the A/C hose.
Can't really say, except there is a large wiring harness that is protected by this part and I believe the manufacturer was prudent enough to include the heat shield. My 2013 has always had the shield in place and no problems to date for the past 13 years. Pressure washing the interior of the engine bay would probably dislodge this part, so be careful if you do this when cleaning.
You might check to see if the clip is just stuck in the recess hole in the frame, but if it was me, I would replace the shield and secure it.

Totally agree.... if it wasn’t a potential problem they wouldn’t have bothered supplying a cover imo.
True, it is a hard spot to get into down there. Maybe removing the battery will help some… Heat is already an issue under the hood, melted my underbody light controller mounted on the firewall!
