Hi all, I’m back again, on vette #5 a 2011 GS convertible. Been a member over the years, it’s been 12 years since #4 a 1999 convertible.
im looking for answers on the infamous rear window hitting the waterfall. I have tightened the straps 3 times, in at , at lest 1” tighter. Can you go too tight? The stock straps still seem to be elastic if you go to tight , what happens. And if tight is ok, why not just put in a strap with no elasticity?
I have used the search function, nothing found on ‘too tight”
Just bought the same car. Never owned a C6 so these are things I'm interested in. What exactly is the issue you're referring to?
very common with C6 convertable. Mine an automatic. But manuals do it too. When the top is at its highest point and the tonnue or “waterfall” lid goes up or down it hits the bottom edge of the rear window. There are 2 elastic straps that are supposed to hold it out of the way, but time makes them less elastic. Many just tighten up the straps and gain the 1” or so for clearance.
I have tightened mine about 1 1/4”. But still touches.
I don’t know and why I’m asking the group. How tight is too tight, when it’s in the closed position, the inner lining of the top prevents viewing of what’s going on it there.
