I'm once again interested in a C6 which was my first corvette. I owned a base C6 when i was getting into the corvette scene, but i'm looking at the Grand Sports and the Z06's. Having owned a C8 for a couple of years, i very much enjoy higher horsepower. I found a C6 nearby with a Hennessey supercharger putting out 600 hp. It has my interest but i was unaware of the Hennessey controversy until now. I understand that the controversy is more about business practices, than it is about craftsmanship. In other words, find someone else to perform your mods. Is that accurate? Is there negative feedback regarding an already installed supercharger?
Inflated numbers, poor workmanship, taking parts off a customer's car and using them on another's. Some may be old allegations. It's simply not a choice I would ever make.
I know he had done shady business practices in the past, not sure about lately. I'd take it to a good shop and have them look through it, if it checks out, I wouldn't hesitate to buy it.
It is about what the car is as it sits. Is the work performed on the car up to snuff? If so, can be a good buy for the right price. I installed my A & A S/C myself, and I know it was done right. Great reliability, and great help from A & A whenever I had questions. I agree, if you are going to pull the trigger, have the car checked out before hand.
That said, they just were installing other people's parts. You're not getting anything special out of one of their cars beyond a scam artist's name on the car
