Default C6 Vette Paddle Shifter Module Stuck

I use the paddles on my 06 C6 Base Coupe. Last night, on the way home, I noticed that the left paddle shifter module is stuck in the pressed-in position. I looked on Ebay for replacement modules, but could not find any. They may no longer be manufactured. Can these paddle shifter modules be repaired?

RPI has the F1 modded left paddle on special today only according to their web site. This will solve your problem and change the way the shifters work to the way the rest of the world is doing it. The only trick is removing the air bag, but there are a few videos explaining how to do that. Took me about 5 minutes to get the right angle to release the pin. In any case, whether you change the paddle or try to repair yours, the airbag’s gotta come out.

I already modded my right-hand shifter. In my case, it is the left-hand shifter that is stuck. Thanks for the link. According to the website, this item is discontinued.

Looking on Ebay, I found these. Don't know anything about them. I would prefer to keep the stock shifters, if possible.

Take it off you may have to shave off just a bit of plastic, sometimes plastic pieces will bind

Does the car sit in the sun/heat? The plastic parts can expand and bind. The factory put grease on the metal pins where it goes into the plastic part. The grease can harden over time. Pulling them apart and greasing them with synthetic can unbind them.

Honestly, doing the F1 mod is best if you are going to pull them apart. The OEM version is outdated with the positive on both sides to push. All C7s and C8's use the right side as upshift and left side as downshift.

No, the vehicle is garage-kept. The issue is only on the left-hand paddle. I performed the mod on the right-hand paddle a couple of years ago. I intend to pull the defective left-hand paddle to see what is going on with it.

So did you perform the mod ONLY on the right hand paddle and you left the left paddle alone/stock?

If you can't repair it you will likely need to buy a used steering wheel and strip the module out. I see real bad examples (leather worn out) for as low as $40-50 sometimes from the recyclers, but that should work if you just plan to remove the module and scrap the rest of the wheel.

You only need to swap the wires around in 1 of the shifters to get F1 operation from both sides.
