My 2005 automatic convertible top surprisingly stopped working. When I turn the handle and pop the top, windows go down then I get a dash error that roof is not secure.. yeah I know. Local Chevy dealer said it's a sensor which I'm sure it is, not which one.
Is there anyone around Syracuse, NY that is knowledgeable to assist me to fix or at least help with how to convert to manual? I would be perfectly fine with manual.
Lift up the carpet behind the passengers seat. You'll see the pump that operates the top. Use the tool in your glove box that turns the pressure screw. Turn it about one turn counterclockwise and it relives the hydraulic pressue and will allow you to operate the top manually.
This info is in your owners manual.
Locate the pressure release bolt on the front side of the hydraulic pump.
Use the wrench, located in the glovebox, and turn the pressure release bolt counterclockwise one revolution, to relieve pressure to the hydraulic pump. This will allow you to manually raise the convertible top.
Then follow the steps under raising the manual convertible top. See “Convertible Top (Manual)” under Convertible Top (Manual) on page 2-60 or Convertible Top (Power) on page 2-67.
Thanks for the reply, I should have noted I did have to relieve the hydraulic pressure to put my top back down.
I have popped the tonneau manually and even with the pressure relieved the top doesn't move very far and I am unable to open it manually without feeling like I have to force it too much and cause damage to fold it into the storage area to close the tonneau
I have searched through many threads here and don't find anything that matches what I have going on
