I have a 2011 GS with the non-bose sound system. Is there an amp from factory with this system? Just put new door speakers in, and will only play bass vs wide range. I know the bose cars have complicated systems, but I was under the impression the non bose systems could swap to newer speakers as long as you have an aftermarket radio.
The Bose and Non-Bose systems have an external amp in the passenger foot well. Much like the Bose system the non-Bose has 5 channels, 3.5 inch speakers in the upper door panel, 8 inch woofers in the doors, 5.25 inch in the rear and a 3.5 inch center speaker.
If you connected your new speakers to the factory wiring for the 8 inch woofers you will get only base frequencies. The 3.5 inch in the top of the door should be getting full range.
If you have an aftermarket radio, I would recommend running new speaker wire to the door speakers and rear speakers. Leave the center speaker disconnected.
