I'm sure this is going to stir a debate.
I'm ok with the sound from the stock Bose system in my 2005 c6.
This is my second 2005 the first one had a Kenwood head unit with back up camera pac interface hooked the stock Bose amps and speakers .. It was difficult to operate and really didst sound all that great. The original owner of the car paid over 2200 for it and installation.
My newest 2005 has the stock Bose system which sounds better than my last car. my question is will a 2009-13 Bose head unit work in the 05 giving it blue tooth? or is it not compatible ? I don't need the steering wheel controls. I do however have a 2008 complete steering column with steering wheel from a Z06 that has the harness and steering wheel controls .
As I recall, the Bluetooth handsfree is actually part of the OnStar system, and not the radio. Could be wrong. But that's only for phone calls, not music, Bluetooth streaming was never available on the C6 from factory without using some sort of aux input.
side note, so dealing with 05 wasn't enough you wanted to od 2x lol
I wish I had not gotten a 05 the first time at least now I know I'm not the only one out here lol
hope you get your radio issue resolved, waiting on my car to get new engine and all before I can install the new radio and subs, will follow closely for sure
I bought a plug in adapter that added blue tooth and a usb if i remember correctly. It was plug and play. I will have to look at it since i removed it. It worked good but i wanted the back up cam so I replaced the head unit.
What model Kenwood was in it? I have yet to hear where the stock system sounded better than an aftermarket system, perhaps you don’t have it adjusted properly. Everyone I heard that have replaced the stock system with an aftermarket system with the stock speakers have seen a noticeable improvement in sound quality, including myself, it can be improved even more with the addition of a subwoofer and subwoofer amp which (if done properly) can add that deep bass that the stock system lacks. But I guess if you like the stock system over the aftermarket, that’s up to you. If you’re wanting to add the steering wheel controls, here’s some guidance that might help you do this, I added them to my 05 with a Pioneer deck, and they work great.
It was a DDX-9903s with PP5-gm11 interface and VTL200s Boyo camera .
i had replaced most of the speakers with JBL
it never sounded all that great , I added a powered sub as well.
that head unit came with the car and was installed by drive customs in San Luis Obispo.
. I’m not saying the stock system in great but it doesn’t sound too terrible. Its function sucks that I admit .
as for the system in my previous car it was hard to adjust the buttons for volume were small and having no steering wheel controls made it difficult to use while driving.
I will be switching out the head unit and eventually the speakers too as some point .
