I'm looking for a wheel shop?? to install some new wheels on my car.
My thinking is that a custom wheel shop would have more experience in mounting new wheels than a normal tire shop. I really don't want the new wheels damaged.
Also, I'm going to need 3/8" hub centric spacers and special lug nuts installed which may be challenging for normal high production tire installers.
So, any experience with a shop in north Orange county/Long Beach, Ca. area?

I don't know about LB/OC area anymore (moved out of LB in 2001) but if you're ever out here in the Desert, I'd take it to Desert Wheel Repair in Cathedral City. Jeff's been in biz for decades, and when I was in for him to refurbish a set of Volvo rims I put on my SHO and install TPMS sensors (aftermarket) I saw TWO Bentley convertibles, and a C6 Vette w/ 20" rims sitting waiting to be worked on. I asked him why he had so many Bentleys and he replied: "because the way the owners tell they are parked is when they hit the curb" - that plus he is just up Hwy 111 from Desert European Motorcars.
I 💯 agree with your concern with national tire chain shops. Overall, they're pretty terrible. In fact, I have a NDA with one of them. Lmao
I'm not in Cali, but what I've done here with great success is find a local independent tire shop with good reviews. Tell them exactly what you want. Ask them if they can honestly meet your request and then pay them their elevated price. I use Riverview Tire and Auto. They're honest, but pricier than some of the competition.
I can't help you with anything local as I'm clear across the country. But when I got new wheels I took them to a good independent tire store near my house. I also bought the new Michelin PS4S tires from them (they were cheaper than Tire rack) and they did the mounting, balancing and alignment. Installed new Schrader 29212 TPMS and McGuard Lug Nuts too. Now I didn't have to mess with any weird spacers or lug nuts but a good shop should be able to deal with those. This same place had done my ride height adjustment and alignment when I got the car home 9 years ago and installed my first set of PS4S 5 years ago so I had a good relationship with them. They always put their best guy on my car and give me first class service.
