I noticed the rubber piece on the windshield cowl next to the windshield is cracked while the rest of the cowl piece is in good condition. Has anyone replaced the rubber piece ?
I know there are two different cowls used on the C6 #15822873 was the first generation 2004-2007 cars and # 25778761is for Jan 2007 -2013 cars with the difference being the hood seal .
With both parts being long since discontinued by GM , I am hoping some one has found a way to replace the rubber piece.
Pull off the cowl cover and you can use some good double sided sticky tape to secure the seal to the platic and then to the windshield. I did this with mine about a year ago and it is holding up fine. First time I did it I didn’t even take the cowl cover off. Some have had luck with rtv. Both are temp fixes at best.
if it is not causing any high speed noise I wouldn’t bother this it.
Mine cracked and a piece is missing, i noticed a lot of C6 cowls at shows even are starting to look weathered. I use a meguiars ceramic coating for plastics on mine and it helps bring back the color.
This is one of those "if it works, it works" things. I have a DD sedan that had the rubber seal along the top of the passenger door crack for about 1/2" and the body shop didn't even want to talk about it. I got some black Permatex body trim adhesive and was able to work some into the crack and taped it up while it dried. It's been about 4-5 months now and still looks good. May be worth checking out if you haven't already found something. Good luck.
