Default a window issue

I just found out the side window regulator and motor parts are discontinued. I have a 2005 Vette and am in need of one for replacement. Being discontinued, what manufacturer would you guys look to for this replacement part? My window is stuck halfway up and halfway down and I need to fix this once and for all!

You're best bet is going to be looking on market place and find someone parting out a c6 and buy that one. If you do find a new one they are usually over $600 I got mine used locally for $200. They make a rebuild kit on eBay. But I couldn't find much info on anyone who has rebuilt one. Most the time the cable freys and jams up.

Ebay has them but be prepared to pay 900.00. May passenger side did that got stuck. What happen the cable was almost broken in two.
They do make cable replacement kits about 100ish or buy a used complete assembly 900 ish.
When I get home I will post what mine looked like
The unknown factor is not sure if you window stuff is different from later models...?
Time to replace was an hour. But took me three to adjsut

I think, from this point on, unless you find a smoking deal on a used regulator, the cable repair kits are going to be the only economical option.

That's a good idea. I'll start looking on Marketplace. Thanks to all repliers! I haven't done this job by myself so if i run into any issues, after I do get my hands on a regulator and motor (I think I need that too), I'll reach out to the Forum for help. Will check YouTube of course as well.
My car is getting well up in miles but I still love it and it is still a great car. Just frustrated that GM has decided to pull the plug on continuing to manufacture some of these parts.

OK, some good and bad news on this window issue. First, the good. I did find an OEM, new in box, regulator assembly. It wasn't cheap by any means, but believe it or not, was $500 dollars less than salvage prices I found on Ebay. Off cars that had more miles than my C6. So I bought it of course. Now the bad news and I'm hoping someone may read this and have an idea about what I'm dealing with. I got the regulator in and it honestly wasn't a difficult job. I started the car and presto! It works. It goes up and down. However, it only goes up to where the brackets were located from the manufacturer. About 5-6 inches. Has anybody dealt with this before and is there a way to resolve it? Does something need "reset" or something?

I just read of this same issue in a post from Corsair79. He discovered the door needs to be closed. That may well be my problem and I'll try it when I get home from work today!

Default window issue again

I installed the new regulator. The window works. But it only goes up and down a couple of inches now. I tried operating it with the door closed, (based on an excellent post from Corsair79), but it's still going up and down just a couple of inches. While playing with this and trying to figure it out, I put the passenger side window down. When I sent it back up it stopped a few inches from closed. Not an indexing reset either. It is down a good 2.5--3 inches before close.
It feels like something needs reset, almost like it doesn't know where closed is.

Has anyone experienced anything like this with their windows?

And one more thing about the old regulator. It looks perfect. No cable fraying or anything like that. It's like the motor just died. Is there a way to test the motor to see if that is indeed what died?

Last ditch effort, before delving deeper.
Tried resetting computers via battery disconnect & reconnect?
Might just do the trick, at this stage w/couldn't hurt.

I did try that Landru but it made no difference. In fact, it was after I disconnected the battery that I powered the passenger window down and not won't go all the way up either. I had read that trick in a post and I almost always at least try that when I'm chasing an electrical host on my C6.

Alright, if 'C5Diag' commented he'd suggest seeking a shop specializing in C6 electricals.
FWIW, I'd concur.
Would eliminate further frustration going down a rabbit holes.

Yeah, I think I've reached that point. Are you aware of a Corvette shop in the mid Atlantic area that specializes in the electrical side of the C6?

Sorry, am a midwesterner.
However, suggest a search of area Corvette Clubs, midatlantic region should be several.
Choose one closest to your local, all CCs maintain a website.
Write provided link asking for referrals who their members use/recommend for this type of issue.
CCs are always more than happy assisting fellow Corvette owners.
