Because I have nothing going on right now, and want to spend more money on my car, I’m thinking about putting a telescopic steering column in. Right now I have a 2007 2LT.
i’m not concerned about memory seats, just bringing the steering column closer to the driver. Does anybody know if the motorized column gets any closer to the driver than the fixed one? I also realize that the electrical connections will be different because my car does not have the N 37 option. Because I suck at electrical, I’ll find somebody to hook that part of it up. Thanks for any info.
I thought of doing this a few years ago. I seen some people say the telescopic column extended farther. So I bought a used column and hooked up a12v source to extend it all the way, then measured. Then got in my car and measured the stock one. It was a bit awkward to measure in the car, but it looked to be within 1/4". So I gave up on the idea
Yeah, I’ve been doing that. I’m 6’2” with long legs. I’d like to keep the seat all the way back, and the wheel close to my chest as possible. I will continue to play with it. Thanks for the response!
Lyle at C&S Corvettes in Sarasota Fl. is ~6'10" and shared on a video how he has his seat adjusted so he fits. Something about tilted all the way back first.....call him.
Don’t know the specs of standard versus telescopic but surely it’s more than 1/4 inch movement…had it on my 2011 3LT and loved it but didn’t pay a lot of attention to total movement…good luck with the project if you go that route.
@bobeyoung, Before spending any money, why not go to a local Corvette club or Corvette show (nearby Carlisle) and sit in a few models like yours that have the N 37 option. That would be the best way to see if the expense is worth the effort. And, thanks for your service!
