Default Dewitt’s -Cooling Line Rub

Just installed the Dewitt’s direct replacement, a nice piece went in fairly easily. However one of my cooling lines at the driver’s side bottom corner makes contact with the tank. I bent the line (arrow) as much as I thought was safe to do and I added some insulation in the form of rubber hose zip tied around the contact area (see pic). I leave for the Hot Rod Tour of Texas in 9 days and wanted to get your opinion on this. I search around the forum and online but wasn’t able to find anything specific to my issue. Thanks in advance.

Are those the trans cooler lines or oil cooler lines?

I don't see an issue as it's well protected from abrasion. I have a DeWitts but didn't use the trans or oil cooler on the radiator and have separate trans/oil coolers in the fog light areas.

thanks for the reply. Those are transmissions lines.
I’ve ran her up to temp several times and idled her for 40 minutes at a time with no visible marks on the newly installed insulation.

How much trans fluid did you add to the tranny to make up what it took to fill your new empty cooler?

The Improved Racing MHX-515 trans cooler was 0.75 quarts in size. So I added a full 1 quart to the trans to make up for the for the cooler and whatever leaked out in the line change.

If you are using the DeWitts radiator cooler, I'm not sure how much capacity it has so you would have to find specs on that from DeWitts. Most in-radiator trans coolers are 0.50 to 1.00 quart in fluid capacity size.
