Hi All, I took my car out today, (2013 LS7 convertible, 15,000 miles) because it was a gorgeous day. Ran a few errands, on my last stop the car struggled to start. When it did I got a bunch of error codes. Traction control, etc. The car ran rough on the way home and I had no tach. It was odd because it ran like a top all day. I brought it home and hooked up my tender, thinking it might be a drop in voltage that might have cause a problem. I'm not too worried about it but thought I'd ask you guys what might it be. Thanks
Check to see if a plug wire may have come off one of the coils. Even if one didn't fully fall off, it's possible it is not actually connected. This is a relatively common occurrence with OEM GM plug wires.
My car did the exact same thing the day after I bought it. Hard to start, TCM light, etc. A plug wire had come off of one of the coils.

If it's not that, it is likely your battery.
Thank you. The battery isn't old but I haven't had the tender on it for a few weeks. It was weak starting especially after it was hot. I'm thinking I had a voltage drop. I'm charging it now and I'll see what happens.
This is something I've read, so take it as such and check what's been suggested first. I've read that the starter can get heat soaked causing starting issues. Some have said to use a C7 starter instead as it's supposed to be better. Another would be if you can find a heat shield for the existing starter to prevent some heat transfer in the first place. I have used a heat shield on a Chevelle with starter issues and in my case, it helped a lot. Good luck.

It's interesting you say this because when my car is cold it fires right up. As it gets hot the starter lags a bit and the car is slower starting. It never gave me a problem prior to yesterday. I charged the battery overnight and I just started it and everything seems fine. No codes, tach is working, sounds fine. I think this issue was a combination of the battery not being fully charged and the warm start. I will do some research on the starter. If it needs to be changed or upgraded I'll do it.
Something I started doing about a year ago and it seems to help keep these gremlins at bay. Once every month or so I disconnect the battery and put my tender on it. I let it sit overnight and reconnect the battery in the morning. This tops off the battery and resets all the modules in the car.

I bought the car two years ago this coming July. The previous owner had just replaced the battery. I usually use the tender out of habit. My C5 the battery would die in a week without it. The battery doesn't go dead nearly as fast, but now that I'm thinking about it, it hasn't been plugged in a several weeks. The weather has been so lousy here I wouldn't drive the car. I'm thinking and hoping that's all this is.
Check the battery and ground connections. Also the exhaust is super close to the starter and the heat doesnt help. I have my starter wrapped with a heat blanket.
The No tach is due to the slow start and the crank and cam sensors do not like that.

I read that the starter overheating could become a problem. I think I'll have my mechanic put a heat shield blanket on it at my next oil change.
