design vs style
"Style has to to with creating the appearence of a vehicle, with making it attrative so that people want to buy it, drive it, show it off. Styling taps into deep emotions - strongly.
Design has to do with making sure things work, that the desire created by excellent styling is not dampened by such things as inadequate headroom, and insufficient cargo space, power, comfort or build quality.
Design has to do with the intellect and therefore it is usually possible to measure, to quantify aspects of design in a way that is essentially impossible to do with styling".
This opinion is apparently supported by GMs own research that indicates that the purchase of a Vette is not a decision of reason but emotions.
All that may be true but my emotions are stimulated by performance not by style. The better a car performs, the better it looks to me. Standing next to a C5-R when it fires up, or listening to one accelerating done the straight at Road Atlanta, or knowing that the C5-Rs rule the ALMS series and are two time class winners at LeMans is what taps into deep emotions for me - strongly.
What about a Vette taps into your deep emotions - strongly. ?

If Corvette were a person, it'd be the guy who was born with grace and athletic ability and works out every day to keep himself in shape.
In marked contrast with this particular owner.

Gatorade and energy bars? Bah! Where's my Dr Pepper and Doritos?
