Thanks! It's news to me, but I'm not over here much either :) . I just hope they will actually be deep enough to hold a drink, unlike the "change holder" we have now. :D
I'm not talking about the width of what will fit......it's the lack of depth needed to hold something securely in place when stopping, turning, etc. I never drive with an open can (no lid), but once in a while might buy something from a drive-thru, and those are taller and have narrower bottoms.
I guess you didn't see my tongue planted firmly in cheek.
Clearly, the C5 design team was addicted to drinking sodapop (or something) out of 12-ounce cans, because the holder works very well for that -- I've switched to 12-ouncers on road trips specifically because I don't have to hold them no matter the road -- but it works not at all for anything else. You'd think at least one guy on the interior team would have heard of Snapple. Then again, too many Corvettes get the kind of weekends-only treatment where consumption of food or beverage inside the vehicle is a sin of the highest order; maybe GM just surveyed the wrong group.
Actually, I've become quite adept at maneuvering while holding the top of a Taco Bell Cruiser Cup in check. It's almost automatic.
I seriously doubt that any C6 cupholder could possibly be secure enough to hold a 44-ouncer through the maneuvers of a backbone-chassis 425hp 19-inch-rubber-wearing monster anyway. But they better not screw up the grip on the 12-ouncer in the attempt.
Seriously, thank you for the post - every little tidbit is greatly appreciated! And while two cupholders versus one may seem like a very minor thing, when driving on long trips with the "boss" (read: my beautiful wife) it sure would be nice if she had a spot to place her drink (water, for example), as well!
Ahh, you're right, I took you too literally (I guess they need to create a tongue in cheek smiley :D ).
Good point - I've forgotten the simple pleasure of enjoying a Snapple or Arizona Iced Tea while driving. It's been a long time since I've had a cupholder capable of handling those. It seems like such a simple thing for them to design properly, but maybe they did ask the wrong group.
when driving fast both hand should be on the wheel and all brews finished   seriously as much as I can agree tot his when picking up takeout I would gladly sacrifice it for another 100 ponies or better sounding stock exhaust

We shouldn't have to sacrifice any PONIES for 2 good drink holders! :D
