Style or performance
Imagine that Dave Hill calls you. He says its come to his attention that you're a real Vette fan and because of that he's going to give you a sneek preview of the C6. However, in order to maintain some control over the infromation about the C6 he's only going to let you see either the styling or the performance. It works this way.
In the style room are the coupe and the vert, not the Z06. You can look all you want. They'll open anything you want except the hood. There's black out paper behind the wheels so you can't see the brakes and a black out skirt so you can't see under the car. There's a rope off so you can't put magnets on parts of the car. In the room are the style team who will answer any question about styling and show you pictures of the styling evolution.
In the performance room is a complete chassis, engine, and running gear. No other parts. No seats, no dash, no nothing that would give a clue about the styling. The performance team is in this room. They will answer any questions about the specifications of the coupe and vert, not the Z06, and their performance. They too will tell you about the development of the performance of the coupe and vert.
Which room do you choose?
I assume that the Vette will have fantastic class-leading performance and exceed my expectations. Therefore I would be more interested in seeing how the styling, fit and finish, quality of materials, and ergonomics fit together. Fit and finish and quality of materials has been a traditional GM weakness - I would be very curious as to how far along they are in responding to the competition. The styling and ergonomics of the C5 were excellent - while I would expect more of the same, I would still be very curious as to how they evolve in the C6.
I would still be curious about the performance, of course. Just that if I had to pick between the two, I would go with what I think might be the most controversial, might be the most significant change, and what the General would be most likely to either disappoint or pleasantly surprise us on. I take performance as a given. I would still want that final HP number, though! :D

So I'll pick the performance room, because this information is still several months away, and I can learn all I need to know about the styling with my own eyes and hands soon enough -- engineering features and decisions are less obvious and more interesting.
Then if I didn't hear 500hp (or damn close to it) from the powertrain engineers, I'll thank Dave Hill for his time and tell him he still sucks for keeping the big motor exclusive to the Z06.

Since I would be able to read here on the forum, what Jinx and Scissors have found out about the mechanics side, I would be happy to view the aesthetics side.
Like Jinx, I would be frustrated that my feedback would not affect the delivered product, but Hill would still get an earful about anything that I found unacceptable.
Performance would be my choice if I could drive the car on a track and have the experience of that performance. Otherwise, I'll just wait for the numbers.
I have a strange faith that they won't destroy the aesthetics and
since Dave Hill is proud of his J.D. Power victories, I think C6 will
be better built than C5.
