Many of you wonder where the pictures were taken? My guess is that the shots were taken at the MFG plant in Ashtabula, Ohio. This place is responsible for producing the Corvette's FRP parts.

Very cool indeed ... it is probably correct since the "Local Weather" from the first site to post the pictures http://www.stupidfastboats.com/ is Sylvania, OH which is about 50 or so miles south of Detroit ... and on the way from Ashtabula, OH to Detroit ...
I emailed the link to a GM friend...
... at the Desert Proving Ground. He just replied that this IS the new Corvette, and that whoever runs that site will not likely have the pictures up much longer. I wonder if the pictures were taken in a race shop? I remember that we(GM) sent out 10 or so C5's in late 95 before the public unveiling so that the race teams could have them ready to run in time for the new season.

Re: C6 Pictures Source (USA Muscle)
I'm wondering why they are on a boating website !
Maybe it's really going to be a boat instead of a C6 ! :jester
Well if these were taken at MFG then I can see how a guy who is in the boat biz might have had a boat shell at MFG and walked in on the Vette body in progress. He says he's a Vette guy and so he probably snapped a few pics thinking it might be a body kit or something.
My guess is he isn't one of us hard core fans so he might not have realized what he had or else these would be making him money in AutoWeek rather than tucked into a back page on his boat fixin' website.
I'd probably agreee it was an MFG facility. If you take a look at the photo's closely enough you'll see that the body panels are attached to a chassis test rig. There's no suspension components, you can barely see a 'boxy' shaped underneath the front of the car and also from the side shot. Also you can see vertical supports coming from the rear targa beam area. I think what we're seeing here is a body fitment test for the panels. From all the spy shots I've seen, I'd say this is the exact body or pretty close to what's underneath the padding on the test cars.
Going back over the photo once more, its possible it could be a vibration test rig. Notice the entire platform is about 2 to 3 inches above the floor. I've seen similar rigs in engineering facilities for comerical equipment. Aslo that would explain the different contact points along the side. They could be measuring side to side flex along with the front to rear flex. Of course I could be totally off base here.
It's quite possible that the surface plate and fixturing is part of a coordinate measuring machine, and they are checking the assembled body components for conformity with the design specs. If this picture was taken in July the car (or partial car) was probably assembled as part of the prepilot build at Bowling Green in April. This was the source of the white (and probaby black) cars that we have been seeing in camoufage since then.
