Mabey this is old news for you guys but its new to me. I was talking to someone i know who I think of as a verry good source and they had told me that the C6 engine is a camless engine. He says he actually worked on them and drove them at his previous job. I think thats just awsome an engine with an infinitely "tunable cam".
Sorry to bring up the boring topic again but I dont normally hang out on this forum and didnt see it in the recent pages at all.
Plus there is a million topics on what its gona look like. To me the technical aspects of the car are more interesting than some cosmetics that arent involving any new technology. I guess you see it differently though.
Please don't be offended 71. The regulars around here including myself have been a little on edge since the latest set of pics were posted of the c-6 on the trailer. We convinced the mods to put a sticky thread on all the pics but still get the same post over & over so they & me are getting excited & frustrated at the same time. They wern't bashing you personally, just the subject. You have to remember that the regs here have been salivating over this c-6 for 6 to 12 mo. now & as it gets closer, we are like a pack of hungry dogs protecting our latest kill & next meal. All is good. & thanks for sharing your news.
All you have to do is got to "search" on the left, type "camless" select "recent topics" or "archived topics" and click on the "Post Bodies (Return a post listing, slower)" you'll find lots of camless info, which we doubt will be in the C6 but maybe in the future. I believe one of the biggest obstacles for camless engines is that they need a 42 volt system.
The camless rumor I believe was started by an "insider" (which I doubt) over at gm-cars.com
I wasent at the cruise in's although i would like to go to them sometime. I havent kept up with all the news about the c6 either. I had just heard this from somone i know that worked at the gm proving grounds and thought id share in case you guys havent heard yet. He said that it was origionally supposed to come out in 2004 but it got pushed back to 2005. Mabey he was wrong but i think that would be an awsome engine if he is right.
no problem 71. As mqqn, stated, Dave Hill said "no" at Cruise In 4. I was the one who asked him the question. He said we won't be seing that anytime soon on a mass produced engine.
I think there is a better chance that will see variable valve timing than camless!!!!!
GEE!!!!! I'm going to run out and get my VTEC stickers NOW!!!!
I doubt you'll see either one. The way GM is, they'll probably just use the Z06 engine until they can get the electric hybrid working.
Variable valve timing is considered to be almost a certainty on the LS2. It's a good thing. With 6 liters of diplscement, we won't need a sticker either.
