Default Interior

I know this has been beaten to death, but why are the GM north america cars so crappy looking interior and exterior wise? I only say this because the GM offerings overseas are WAY WAY nicer inside and out!

Take a look at what the interior of a Chevy Caprice from overseas looks like!!!
http://us1.webpublications.com.au/st...8/1893_5mg.jpg

WTF??? Then we end up with garbage here for GM NA cars! The GTO being the only exception of a nice attempt so far and that's from abroad anyways.

Hope overseas designed the C6 interior otherwise it will most likely be the same GM north america junk...

sorry about the rant, I just hate when I run into pictures like this and we end up settling for less from the same company! No wonder the domestics are loosing ground in sales....

WAKE UP GM !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :smash:

Why do you think GM has become the " WalMart " of car companies , needing 0 % financing and selling most new models at $$$ off MSRP before anyone even bites . They treat the interiors like renta-a wreck commodities and the public returns the favor . It's a vicious cycle.

The Australian Holden company has some great interiors too. I don't know if its the fact that GM thinks that Americans don't care what the interior looks like or if its because of the cost of material here but GM puts some pretty nice material inside their cars outside the US, just not here. :( :( :( They are trying to change that practice though.

Holden, like Saab, Hummer and Saturn, is allowed to "do its own thing" by GM much more than the original domestic divisions. The Aussie/Asian Chevy Caprice is actually a re-badged Holden, like the GTO, and benefits from a quality Holden interior.

GM is not giving preferential treatment to overseas divisions; it's just not forcing its American divisions to make better interiors.

I think that's a Holden Caprice. Holden does good head room, and shoulder room and everything else in fact. They have a great line and variety of vehicles mostly based on that Omega platform (opel & Catera). Holden has been racing that chassis with 427 Gen III engines for some time. Watch SPEED channel and look for the Autrailian Super V8 races. It's always a good fight between the Holdens and fords. The are mostly real cars, not tube frames with a thin plastic skin painted to look kinda like a production car.

:iagree:

That's because a lot of Americans weren't demanding better. Look at how many C5 owners will say that their interior quality is fine.

GM and Ford have much better cars in the rest of the world. This is because if they didn't they wouldn't sell anything against their Euro and Japanese counterparts. They've been milking the domestic market for way too long and are finally having to step up due to losing market share.

Take the new GTO for $30K. I haven't seen it in person but from the pics it looks like the interior is vastly better than any current $30K GM vehicle in the U.S. (the departed WS6 was close in price...ever see it's interior?). Is GM suddenly losing money by making better interiors for the same price? I don't think so.

They can make a better interior. Even if the engineers were dumb as rocks they can just pick any Euro or *** car and reverse engineer it. It's just that they haven't had to up till now.

GM is in a pickle... it's a very old company with many problems... things such as a huge retiring work force and benefits it has to pay out, etc.. etc.. union contracts, etc.. etc...

However, why they continue to beat themselves up by releasing sub-standard product to cut costs is beyond me. All that does is make people shop elsewhere.

What they fail to realize is that once this happens MOST people will NEVER ever consider another GM car in their lifetime. WORSE yet, they will NEVER RECOMMEND one to their friends, etc.. etc..

BITE THE BULLET for a few years and get back on track or may you RIP GM !

Every last friend and family member, etc... that I know that has gone to an oversea's car says that it is the best car choice they have made and probably never buy another GM ever again.... they are constantly amazed why I'm so pro- GM and refuse to do the same. GM.... I AM THE MINORITY... the few the last!

IF you can't do interiors, THEN DON'T, let Holden do them for you! If you can't do cars that people will buy TODAY & TOMORROW, not a generation or two BEHIND the competition (04 Malibu), then STOP and just make trucks and give us the Holden's.

I realize it is WAY more complex than this and if you want to be know as the Walmart of the industry than fine. But let the premiere brands stand on their own... Cadillac and Corvette (GMC into Hummer) and consolidate the rest of the crap to make a FEW world class LEADING cars for the MASS's. Not cars that people are STUCK buying because they have no choice based on funds since they can get it ultra cheap after all the rebates, etc.. offered!

Hell, even the majority car buy public like to be PROUD of what they buy. Yet, I don't know of one Sunfire or Cavilier owner that is PROUD of what they bought! I do know that all of them refer to their NEW cars as just daily beaters! AND I also know that not ONE Honda CIVIC owner would EVER refer to their car as a beater!

What's even sadder than all this??? Well... THIS IS HOW THE LAST OF DIEHARD GM OWNERS ARE STARTING TO THINK!

WAKE UP GM !!!! :smash:

That Holden Caprice interior should be standard issue in a $10K AVEO !
EXTREME???? Hell YEAH, but so will the sales BE!

You NEED to give people a REASON to be proud of their purchase! Right now you are giving people nothing but REASONS to buy the competitions product!

Don't forget, BRAND LOYALTY doesn't mean CHEVY or FORD anymore like it did when we were growing up! In todays society, it is NOTHING but EMBARASSING to be brand loyal to what our parents where loyal to.... GM / FORD. Those of use that are still loyal and young are a minority that is constantly erroding!

Whew.... sorry guys, had to be said. :smash: :flag

If the interior is as poor as they have been in the past, you can expect GM to continue losing market share to Toyota. Toyota and GM are fixing to go head-to-head, and if GM doesn't get its shiznit together soon, Toyota will be the #1 domestic sales company in America.

GM isn't losing money by making a nicer interior for the same price, they just aren't making the same profit; a difference of a few hundred dollars per vehicle.

"Relax" must be a term that is WAY WAY WAY to overused at GM. They don't need to RELAX, they need a freeking blow torch under their asses! :yesnod:

Better... is that fake plastic wood???

If it is, it will go down as cheap plastics in magazines such as Motortrend!

You know it, I know it...

BTW, have you seen the exterior????

Why is it always one or the other with GM?

Face it, their is NO car that GM offers that Honda or Toyota (not including the Germans) don't do better!!!

Well, maybe the Corvette!

(ONLY a matter of time if they desert the Corvette Community and introduce the base vette at $60K )

Why is GM so intent on suicide???
