Sounds mostly believable except for the part about the manual tranni being standard equipment; hard to believe, considering that close to 90% of all C5's sold are A4's. Guess we'll just have to wait and see... :skep:

I to would be surprised by that, but the number isn't anywhere near 90%.
For 2003, 24% of Coupes and Convertibles were sold with the manual. Add in the Z06 numbers, and 32% of all C5 production for 2003 had manual transmissions.

He might actually just mean standard as in 'manual transmission' (the term 'standard' was used in the old days) not as in 'standard' feature of the car...maybe?

Well it should be standard or auto at no cost, sucks to pay more for something other brands consider standard.
Buwahahaha. I love it. Finally a manual transmission standard. Just like a sports car should be.
GM finally got smart. Most vette owners have an auto. So if you charge extra for the auto, you make more money. I'm really surprised GM didn't do this before.
And Krabtree: Just ignore the people flaming you. They're probably the ones running around thinking that the photos are fake anyway.

here's the actual article re:the tranny(the "upgraded engine" is the LS2,6 liter that replaces the LS1,5.7 liter)."the upgraded engine is standard with a six-speed manual or an optional four-speed automatic, beefed up to handle the additional power.an electronic system on the automatic selects the optimalgear for the given driving condition."i think that "C6-XTSY"hit the nail on the head.if more people want the slushbox, make them pay for it!a sports car should be stick from the factory anyway,in my opinion.sorry,i felt the need to editorialize.by the way,the curb weight is estimated to be 3245 lbs. re:the interior..."inside,designers attempted to create an interior with improved materials and craftsmanship.the interior design theme continues the longtime Corvette cue of a twin-cockpit layout.seam lines between parts have been decreased and narrowed.anodized aluminum accents are used in combination with cast skin materials on the door trim and instrument panel for premium quality, appearance, and feel.storage has been increased and cupholders improved."...hasn't anybody got this issue who is also digital camera and computer literate!?!as for you select a-holes who think i'm fabricating this stuff;think about it,maybe that's how you get your "jollies",but i'm just trying to pass along some info! :steering:
Thanx for the info Krabtree....but come on brotha, you need to find yourself a damn kinko's or mailboxes etc or a friend to scan this poopie. It's easy, and would cost you about $2 to get it done at Kinkos.

Unless I'm missing something, with 8590 MN6's in the coupes and verts and 8635 Z06 M12's out of 35,469 total cars, the percentage of manuals for 2003 was basically 49%. In fact, for several years in the C5 run, automatics were in the minority. C4's were a different story, of course.
Thanks for all the Information. I'm sure your are reporting what you read - why would you do otherwise? Thanks for sharing. I SURE HOPE THEY ARE WRONG ABOUT THE 3,245 LB WEIGHT!!!!! Amazing how difficult it has been to get the weight. We have more accurate guesses about HP than we do about weight.
