C6's only problem

Quoted from M/T:
Our best guess is that the new car will launch with a 425-horse, 350-cubic-inch engine. Approximately a year later, a Z06 version making around 500 horsepower will take on the exotics from Europe--and polish off the Dodge Viper
The new engine family will have clever, adjustable intake phasing, 25-percent-lighter titanium valve gear, and a displacement-on-demand feature that'll shut down four of the eight cylinders when the car is cruising and extra power isn't required. An electrohydraulically actuated controller on the front of the camshaft will enable a range of operation from 20 degrees of advance to 40 degrees of retard. Coupled with a more aggressive cam-lobe profile, the engine will have greater low-end torque, smoother idle quality, and higher horsepower. The phasing flexibility will also eliminate the hardware for an external exhaust-gas recirculation system.
Transmission choices include a six-speed manual or a high-torque-capacity six-speed automatic. The (T56) six-speed stick will continue to be built to Corvette specifications by Tremec and mounted in the cast-aluminum rear subframe. The new six-speed auto (6L60-E) will be mounted similarly, just ahead of the rear axle.
Hence, the automatic, and not the manual, Vette will likely be equipped with a column-mounted paddle-shift system.
The C6's body will be composed of sophisticated thermoset and thermoplastic panels. But unlike those in Vettes past, these will be of exceptionally high surface quality, says GM, and will enable assembly fitment that approximates the 3-millimeter gaps of the best steel-bodied cars.
Unquestionably, one of the areas of greatest change in the C6 will be the interior. We understand the "Star Trek by Fisher-Price" look has been banished. Long criticized for the cheap look of the plastics used throughout the cabin and the lack of anything even approaching the fit and finish of most mid-priced sedans, the interior will be brought up to $50,000-car standards with Vice Chairman Bob Lutz' approval.
That means tastefully executed brightwork, higher grades of leather, and possibly a touch of wood. The gauges will be large, analog dials with a hint of retro. Seating will be soft but nicely supportive. A system that heats and cools the occupants of those seats will be optional, as will adaptive cruise control.
The new exterior design will reach far ahead of the handsome, yet conservative, C5 appearance. And the interior should finally offer something better than you'd find at the bargain end of the rental fleet.
Fuel economy should improve slightly with a city estimate of around 20 mpg and the highway number touching, or even exceeding, 30. As usual, the new small-block V-8 will be mounted low and just behind the front axle."
