Actually the windshield frame on the C5 is extruded aluminum. The frame is then riveted and bonded to the hydroformed steel frame rails at the hinge pillar on each side. The dash crossbar is made of cast magnesium. Looks like the C6 uses the same design, nothing ground breaking over the C5.
rgregory, I'm going to politely disgaree with you on the integredy of the windshield frame in a rollover. My previous car, a Mazda Miata, has a frame that collapses in rollover. It overs ZERO protection. The Honda S2000 on the other hand has a frame thats much less resistant to collapsing. I've seen many pictures of rolled Miata and S2000's...they speak a thousand words. http://www.bethania-garage.com/why.htm

Are you saying it will or not help? Well having a friend who rolled a C4 and the windshield collapsed down very easily. In most rollovers the actual roll hoop in the back will get the brunt of the force. I would like to see some pics of C5 convertibles (well actually I hope not) that have rolled over and this will tell if the windshield frame helps in a rollover, I doubt it unfortunately.
