Default Stay Focused - Corvette Evolution

Good Evening Forum Members. I'm a new member to this Forum. I have never
owned a corvette in my whole life (mainly due to financial reason). I'm 41 years
old and now have a great job. I will tell you this - I will be buying the C6 Corvette
this year or in 2006. I have read most of the post on this thread (C6-General Discussion).
All that I hear is just a bunch of winers. Either everyone wants a car that has
600 HP or 23 inch Chrome wheels with electronic air inflators. I have been following the
Corvette for many years now (approximately 22 + years). I give kudos to the GM, Chevrolet Division, Dave Hill and all the people involved for the design of the C6. People,
you have to remember that we RIGHT NOW are part of the history of this car. The Corvette
is an evolution and we are part of it. The people that want the 600 HP Corvette
couldn't afford it if Chevrolet built it. They would find another excuse not to buy it.
Just think, back in 1978, the Corvette only had 185-220 HP. Now it will have 400 HP.
WOW ! Can you believe it. Do you actually think the Autoworker in St. Louis back in 1963
would think that this car would be around in 2005. Probably not. It is an American Evolution.
The problem right now in America is the "I want it right now" syndrome. I would like
for the 2005 C6 Corvette to have a lot of things too, but I can wait. Yes, .. I can wait.
The best sign of maturity is delaying pleasure. I don't think that we should sit in a
circle and hold hands singing "Kumbaya", but trust me when I say "Chevrolet is listening".
Everything is not going to come tomorrow but over time it will. Let's enjoy the C6
Corvette and hope that this car will be around for our kids and grand-kids to enjoy.
I give my kudos to GM, Chevrolet, and the entire C6 design team. Great Job People.
I will be buying the C6. It is an Evolution. Many years to GO ! The True American Sport Car.

Thanks for listening.

You've gone 22 years without owning a Vette and that makes you "mature", because you've been able to "delay your pleasure" I don't see anyone here who doesn't appreciate the C6, on the contrary, we're the Corvette-driving, Chevy owners who want it to "be all that it can be". And yes, that's American! :flag

Welcome!

The C6 will be the next "best Vette yet."

Performance will be equal to or better than anything under 80K.

 :yesnod:

Welcome! And, that's a cool Forum name you've chosen. Now, join the rest of us and get in debt for a vette-it's the American way!

Winers?

Did you mean whiners?
Or weiners?
Or winners?

:-)

Welcome. Even most of us whining weiners know we're living in the glow of a fantastic automobile, and we'd rather have a C6 than a non-Corvette.

Well put C6Corvette. Like you I will be getting a C6 this year. I am a Newbie and a year younger than you. I have been a reader of this forum for the last year.

I grew up with an uncle who has owned Corvettes for many years and as a youngster wanted a Corvette one day. Even though I am lucky to the have the financial means to have purchased a Corvette several years ago - I have not. The reason being is that you and I are in the age group to have experienced or know friends that purchased American cars during the 80's. During this decade unfortunately American manufactured cars had many defects and problems. I vowed at that time that I would purchase foreign cars due to better quality.

Well, in the last several years it appears that American car manufactures are trying and succeding in building better quality cars, trying to incorporate consumers wants and using best practices from foreign car manufacturers.

I will be taking a leap of faith in which my wife thinks I am crazy. I am selling my 2002 BMW 530i which is a well built automobile and buying my first American car. I hoping that GM is walking the talk with it quality first program in which GM apologized for not manufacturing the best quality cars the last 20 years in its advertisements in the last year.

I am looking forward to being part of the Corvette family and like what I see with the C6.

I agree! I think if Corvette had become the car Zora wanted in the late sixties or whenever, the mid-engined twin turboed v-6 or Wankel awd "dealy-bobber" CERV ___ (fill in the blank), they'd have sold 7-8 thousand of them, but certainly not 25-40 thousand and that would have been the end of the Corvette. The developement costs for the production car would have been far, far beyond the C-3's, and then MSRP'd for what? $6-7K back then? Do ya think? Management would've pulled the plug long ago. No C-4, no C-5. Ya gotta remember, we're talking a $45-$60K production car. It's that appropriate and affordable price range that developes the excitement (and sales), -the availability of the performance level. Let's see how Porsche does in the next few years at almost $200K

Repeat after me: Pushrod engine, rear wheel drive... Pushrod engine, rear wheel drive.......

Welcome to the forum. With that aside.

What gives you the right to come on here and tell everyone that the way they think or that by expressing their opinion is wrong? And that by somehow being overzealous and wanting everything on their cars (the ones they buy with their hard earned money) to be anything less than perfect. And frankly, maturity has nothing to do with it; it's mostly curiosity. We want to experience something new, and we want to experience it first so we can share it with everyone else. It's human nature.

And ironic as it may seem, you've now come across as a whiner, when you're entire post was to somehow point blame at the so-called whiners. lol
