Default Plain Jane seats

So another thought after seeing the vette last night at the l. a. car show, what about those seats. I personally like the sports seats now with the opening below the headrest and the "CORVETTE" stitched in the leather.
Are the show seats really going to be the final product? :U

I'm wondering if those were the sports seats. I didn't see anywhere in the sides of the seats for the airbags to be released, so I'm hoping that's a sign that they were the standard seats. I would really hope that GM will do something remotely similar to the C5 sport seats.

In one of the photos (maybe from the Detroit car show), I thought you could see "airbag" down the outside of the passenger seat. If so, this might be bad news for those of us who want the cut outs in the sport seats.

Unfortunately, correct. Also, the controls for sports seat adjustment are clearly visible in many photos (these look like C5 sports seat controls in pix). The base level seats do not have all these electronic controls. Also note the perforated leather is visible in some of the pix, another indicator of sport seats.

Yep, AIRBAG written (embossed?) on the side of the seat, take a look at the large online interior photo at motortrend.com

I don't care what they look like - but I DO very much care how they feel and perform. I have Sport seats in my Coupe and the Z seats in the Z06 which are basically base seats.

Both SUCK. They look good, but they are floppy, unsupportive, and unreliable. The Coupe seats rock, and the bolsters failed on the driver's side. C5 seats are the worst of any sportscar I have owned, and I have been through many. What was even more embarrassing was that the seat-backs in two of the Z06's at the l.a. auto show were already busted - great impression that makes. Don't know why GM can't get their act together in a $50K car.

You want to see what really good seats are all about...sit in a Subaru WRX Sti, a car costing $20K less.

Now for the good news: You couldn't sit in the C6, but I DID sit in the XLR at the l.a. auto show. The seats in that car are a QUANTUM leap forward. They are supportive - they are solid - and they are comfortable. So, if they are any indication (they should be essentially the same), then I'm gonna love the C6 seats, even if they do look plane jane.

You would think after making sport seats standard in 03 they would have been standard in the 05. Why offer base seats?

I think the seats (regardless of option level) will look much better in black than they do in tan as we've been seeing. There is also the chance that the base seats will look similar in shape and support to the 'sport' seats in the pics, maybe without the perforations of course.
Regardless, I wouldn't order a C6 with the heavier heated seats OR side airbags so it might just have to be base seats for me. :yesnod:
