Navigation system will allow CD play at the same time
There has been some concern if you could use the single CD when using the Navigation system. Some people have said that you can only use one or the other, not both at the same time.
I got the official word for the C6 in the quote below. :hurray:
"The NAV unit has a tilt button. When you press it, the screen opens up and
you have access to both the DVD slot for the map memory AND a CD slot for
music. "
I knew the Corvette team would have a way to do both. :D

Not to be a dark cloud but, where does it say that you can operate both at the same time? So what if you have access to both slots. On some GM systems you have access to the cassette and the CD player but can still only use one OR the other, NOT BOTH.

If you couldn't use both at a time there would be no reason for the two separate drives. It wouldn't make sense to use a CD and cassette at the same time like your example, but it would make sense to use the CD and nav systems at the same time.

If they both share the audio system, then you might not be able to use both at the same. Think about your computer. Can you play a DVD in one drive and listen to a CD in the other drive at the same time? NO.

Yes, in every computer I have ever owned, you can.
I have a feeling a lot of people aren't experienced with DVD navigation systems in cars...

Yes, you can. I've listened to over eight different separate audio streams before, including two CDs at the same time.
Do you even have any technical computer experience?

That is good to hear.
I don't understand why though, they don't offer the XLR system. It has Nav and the 6 disc indash player.
It is most likely due to the extra amount of room the 6 disc changer needs behind the dash and in the center column. Our Escalade has the Nav system and the 6 disc changer in it, but it also has a lot more room in the center column.

Oh yeah, for those other questions about playing CDs and using the NAV DVD, I'm not sure why one would think you can't use both at the same time. The Nav system does not use the audio system when it is displaying information. If you use voice guidance, the voice comes in over the music(usally the music is softnened automatically). I am not familiar with the voice activation feature, but I see it working a lot like the OnStar mic in our Escalade. It will mute the music when you start talking to it/activate it. Both our Escalade and my everyday beater, Maxima, have Nav systems in them and there is no issue playing CDs and using the Nav at the same time.
That's it! Why couldn't Chevy be a little innovative and include a system like that in the C6?
So, any ideas where would be a good place to mount that control panel in the C6? I also wonder if the C6 sound system has inputs to connect to (that would be too easy, though).
