Re: 2005 corvette convertible (benjamin123456789)
This is what I learned from interrogating the spokesperson at Philly:
- manual soft top standard
- power soft top as an option. There will be a panel with the power top that hasto be raised, so the mecahnism will know all is clear to lower the top.
- available with Z51 option
- there will be a trunk lid
- the waterfall stays
- no bolt down hard top
- will be at NY Auto Show
Then, according to the Geneva Convention, I had to let her go.

From what I have read this will be an integrated setup with the optional power top. Pushing the top button will raise the tonneau cover and lower the top.

I didn't think she was talking about the tonneau cover.
I was asking her about a comment that I read by Dave Hill. He said something like the storage compartment will be completely enclosed. I asked her if that meant that you can't reach into the back from the passenger compartment.
From her explanation, I got the idea that there is a panel inside the storage compartment. It must be in a certain position (up), as an interlock, so that it is certain that no obstructions are in the way, as the power top comes down.
We'll see soon enough. All will be revealed.
I wonder why there have been no recent convertible spy photos.

Re: 2005 corvette convertible (GDP)
I think the convertible will be a 2006, but I could be wrong.
I haven't read that anywhere, but I agree that it makes sense from GM's point of view.
It would also be consistent with the way they rolled out the C5 models. The coupe came out in '97 (January), the convertible came out in '98, the hardtop in '99, and the Z06 in '01. If they do drag it out, GM can get the most out of the hype.
