Default VETTE NEWBEE

Hey all,
I just registered this morning I currently drive a wrx, its a sweet car (12.2's no nos) I would have to say the faithful machine is at its limits for daily driving. Im now ready to "reach for the stars" so to speak.... I WANT A VETTE! now my choice isnt exactly narrowed down. Should I buy a used coupe or a used ZO6? Im looking to dump alot of money into the mods side and im a quarter mile junkie, with that said I was wondering if there was an advantage for goin with the ZO6.

You will get hammered here for talking about "used" vettes

Perhaps you should try this in the C5 or Z06 section... There will be no shortage of opinious over there. Welcome to the addiction.

Unless you want to do SERIOUS mods I'd go with the ZO6... it's a better starting point. Having driven both, aside from power it just feels tighter. The suspension is much firmer, it reacts more quickly, and it just feels more "purpose-built." The extra power would put me over the top. That said I like the looks of the standard coupe a little more, so you could always make the ZO6 upgrades if money isn't an object to you. With its lower compression it could be a better fit if you wanted to do forced induction without switching heads.

Although I'm partial to the Z, you really can't go wrong. Welcome to the forum!!!

Nothing at all. I happen to like them. The C6 section is about the new model that is coming out in late summer or early fall.

The C5 sections are related to the 1997 to 2004 models (The Z06 gets its own section).

Earlier than that are C4 (ZR-1 gets its own), C3, C2, C1... All the way back to 1953.
