I got a message back from Chevy today saying that the Navigation system does NOT remove MP3 capability, which contradicts what the ordering guide says. Now, since both the e-mail and the ordering guide are from Chevy, technically its a split vote, so which do you trust more? I'll leave that for you to decide.
Unfortunately, they could not tell me if the audio system with Navigation had audio and/or control inputs for adding an external CD changer. Apparently they think its a question for my dealer. Somehow, I don't think so.
Thanks for the info, that's good news. If MP3 is offered with the standard radio/CD changer combination then, when you upgrade to Navigation system, you should not loose the MP3 capability. That makes sense.
GM is working on a dealer installed trunk mounted CD changer.
I hear you can not listen and Nav. at the same time.
Was it a dealer who told you that? There are two slots behind the navigation screen. One for the DVD and one for the CD so you can listen to your favorite CD while using the Navigation system.
per page 8 of 2005 Corvette Initial Ordering Workbook, "The (U3U) sound system with Navigation option deletes the (US9) 6-disc in-dash CD changer and MP3 capability" Why doesn't somebody go look at a XLR.
I just got a call back from my dealer, too. He said that Chevy on-line site told him that MP3 is NOT removed when NAV is ordered. I hope he's correct..

Good idea, I'll be back...
I was told that XLR has more room in the dash for the CD changer along with the Nav system and that the Vette will not have the same system. Can anyone confirm this?

No, I believe the XLR's changer is in the glove box. Being the same platform as the C6, it does not have more room in the center console.
I don't recall exactly. There seems to be some discussion about the voice recon. system saying it mutes all of the audio when active ... because it is supposed to be listening for your commands.
I asked Chevy and got no answer. I also don't know if you can disable the voice function in the nav. system or not. If not, I'd say it is worthless. I sure would like an accurate answer to the question though.
One member said " the nav. sys. mutes the other audio when it is active" We need a definitive answer on this .... it is a $$$ option.
I have a Garmin GPS and it runs real time with my laptop and the DeLorme SW. Just lay it on the dash and it shows you what lane you're in on the interstate ... very accurate and a nice tool. Would be good to have a built in sys.
