A window pressure sensor would be better, these switches are terrible. They are supposed to be trying to improve the fit and finnish of the car... at least that is why I'm assuming they have done things like make onstar, navigation, and paint the gage bezels. I don't know if the rocker switches are cheaper than the membrane switches but I did not like rocker switches at all in my Trans Am. They break easily and if you get anything on them it will seep and you have to replace them. I just can't see why safety or euro would lead the engineers to go back to the old school rocker switches... I guess this is just one more thing I can add to my list of reasons I'm not going to order a C6.
Look closer - they aren't like the rocker switches in your trans am or my camaro (which are cheap and not very satisfying to use). The C6 window switches are like the ones Toyota has used for years - they have a place to hook your finger under them, so you raise them to raise the window, and push them down to lower the window. They wont be the cheap plasticy and easy to break rocker switches like the Camaro had, they are a totally different design.
So while I thought the membrane switches were nice, these should be fine too.
And a sidebar: Safety schmafety, if a kid is standing on my door panel I WANT the car to strangle him. If the car doesn't I will.
Membrane switches are the signature defining " el cheapo /GM bean counter -led /condescending to the don't -know -any -better American buyer " mentality of the " Interior by Tupperware and Armor All " badge proudly worn by the C5 . :mad
My Silverado SS has the new style switches and I like them. Pull up to close the windows and push down to open (they have the auto down) Really they are quite nice to use. They don't seem cheap at all, quite the contrary.
I'm more than happy to say goodbye to the "membrane" switches. They look cheap, and you have to look at them to see what you are pushing. The new ones will be able to be operation 100% by feel, and they look better.
I don't think they look "cheap", the rest of your post makes sense.

lol I think they look good. I like the rubber as you can spill on them and mess them up. I feel for you if you have to look down evertime to adjust the window!
