I am wondering if the new radio with NAV will allow one to hook upp a 12 disk changer like in my C5. Seeing that the nav deletes the 6 disk changer, one would think the radio would control a remote changer. Anyone have any info or thoughts?
No, no CD changer with the nav system. You can use MP3's with it, but of course, the amount of MP3s you can put on one CD depends on how low you are willing go quality-wise.
There's rumors of some type of dealer installed option, but nothing has been confirmed.

You lose MP3 capability also with nav according to ordering workbook.
You will always be able to add a changer through one of the FM modulated setups. Adding a changer with a direct link to the head unit will require somebody getting a hold of the car to check it out and see if there is a connection.
Not to bash GM at all, but it is these little things I cannot understand. All that FANTASTIC engineering and then a little thing like not getting a CD changeer AND a nav...
It would be nice if it was at least pre-wired for a trunk mounted changer. I don't mind if it is in the trunk but one should definitely be availabe even with the NAV on a car the level of the vette.
I would agree with you. Every vehicle GM offers with this Nav system has a 6 disk changer behind it. With the screen being less than 1" think and the rest being micro-electronics, I would really like to hear what the Corvette's team excuse is for not offering the 6 disk changer. Beyond that, there really is no excuse for not having a optional changer mounted somewhere in the rear compartment again.
"And, wonder no more what the XM antenna looks like.. It's black on the coupe, and located on the deck on the convertible, and will be body colored on the vert. I also heard that a rear mounted 6 disk CD changer will be available that will hookup to the navigation module. SO, we can have the nav setup and a changer! Another biggie soundwise is the car has 7 speakers, and the door units are 10 inch subwoofers! Rock on!"
Are you telling me there is no possibility? Over the past few years Delco has offered a facility to control a CD changer in all but the cheapest radios.
Thank you for contacting Chevrolet and for your interest in the 2005 Chevrolet Corvette C6! Space limitations in the center stack do not permit both systems to be installed simultaneously. However, please contact your dealer about the possibility of having a glove box or trunk-mounted CD changer installed in the vehicle. As an alternative to the navigation system, our 2005 Chevrolet Corvette C6 comes standard with OnStar. Using a sophisticated Global Positioning System, OnStar brings you safety, security and information via live personal service. And it's available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year - all at the touch of a button. Driving directions, emergency assistance, up-to-the-minute stock quotes, email and more, all in your vehicle.
Lee,
The navigation unit is much larger than the C5 radio. It would take extensive surgery to get it to fit and you would probably have to relocate some things.
To be honest I would prefer a rear mounted 6 (or 12) disk changer. I like to load up the cartridges and have them ready. I have the 6 disk in dash in my SS Silverado and it is a pain to load and unload all 6. It does sound like the nav radio will control a changer.
I am consiering buying the Garmin Street Pilot 2620. But after contacting tech support, they say it will not turn off automatically, but you can leave it on all the time as it will not drain the battery significantly.
Do you leave your 2610 always on, or do you remember to turn it off ? I'm also wondering about connecting it to a source that turns off when the key is removed as i did for my radar detector. I sent a message to Garmin asking them if it will hurt the GPS to connect it that way.
