I know there has been a lot written about weight--I did a search and read a lot of stuff.
When I was looking at C5 coupes last week and was sitting in one with 1SB, automatic, polished wheels and glass top option, I asked the saleman the vehicle weight. He looked on the inside of the drivers door and said 3,600--is that possible?? I did not look at the door panel myself. Everywhere I read it's closer to the 3,250 range.
As a side note, the C5 is only rated to carry 399 lbs. Of that, only 100 lbs. may be put in the trunk. Go over that, and GM is no longer liable for blown-out tires, broken suspension, and other things caused by overloading.
Thanks for the clarification--I should have known, or at least looked for myself. The salesman actually said the weight difference was due to the options.

If that the case I need to put my big fat butt on a diet.

I would love to be there for that conversation...
"sorry sir, your blown shocks will not be covered on your new Corvette because you and your wife are too heavy"

According to http://www.edmunds.com , the C5 coupe weighs 3,214 lbs. It lists the C6 as 3,245 lbs. Not sure if those are the same as GM's numbers, but here they are anyways, for what it's worth...

They're both right, but for different years.
The C5's curb weight increased between 1997 and 2004. As of now the curb weights are 3246 for the Coupe and 3248 for the Convertible.
