Question about color changes
This year we witnessed the cancellation of Precision Red quite prematurely and without warning to those that may have been getting ready to order PR. Does this happen often that colors are dropped without warning? The reason I ask is that I am interested in a C6 in Daytona Sunset Orange, but would like to put off buying one for a year or two if the color is going to hang around for awhile. Is it typical to know what colors are being dropped well before the ability to order is closed? Has there been any pattern to the specialty colors like DSO to hang around for 2 or three years, or is it more typical for them to change every year? I just don't have much history to call upon when it comes to color changes, and I would appreciate any advice from the more experienced.

From what I've seen, colors are generally dropped at the end of a model year unless there is some problem with it in the manufacturing process. Chevy usually gives a few months notice that a color will be dropped before it actually is. Also, a color is typically dropped if demand is less than 3% of production.

Thanks. That is just what I hoped to hear. Hopefully, DSO will be a big hit so I can put off ordering one until 2006. I certainly will be checking the Forum next Spring to see what the dealers know.
